Battlefield & Beyond

Indian Army Based Leadership Event

How We Built the Brand Identity for Battlefield & Beyond

Before developing the visual identity, it was important to define what Battlefield & Beyond would represent.

Rather than positioning it as a conventional leadership conference, the brand was built around a larger purpose. Battlefield & Beyond was positioned as India’s experiential leadership event, creating a bridge between the lessons of the Indian Armed Forces and the challenges faced by individuals in civilian life.

The event was designed to showcase leadership through lived experiences, enabling attendees to learn directly from those who had demonstrated courage, resilience, responsibility, and decision-making under extraordinary circumstances.

This positioning helped the event differentiate itself from traditional conferences that primarily focus on theory, frameworks, and business success stories.

The brand was designed to resonate with:

  • Professionals
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Business leaders
  • Changemakers
  • Aspiring leaders
  • Defence enthusiasts
  • Individuals seeking personal and professional growth

The result was a brand that balanced inspiration with action, combining the ethos of military leadership with practical lessons that audiences could apply in their own lives.

Building a Distinct Visual Language

The branding for Battlefield & Beyond was designed to reflect the values of the Indian Armed Forces while connecting with leaders, professionals, and changemakers. As India’s experiential leadership event, the objective was to create an event identity that balanced military ethos with modern leadership principles.

Logo Design

The Battlefield & Beyond logo was created to symbolize the journey from service to leadership. Featuring a soldier and a Veer Naari, the mark pays tribute to both those who serve the nation and the families who carry their legacy forward. The distressed typography reflects courage, resilience, and the realities of military service, while the road-sign inspired “Beyond” element signifies the transition from stories of sacrifice to lessons in leadership, purpose, and meaningful action.

More than a visual identifier, the logo embodies the event’s central idea of transforming lived military experiences into insights that inspire personal growth, responsibility, and impact.

Visual Identity System

A distinctive visual language was developed using military-inspired aesthetics, documentary-style storytelling, bold typography, and purposeful imagery. This approach helped establish a strong and recognizable event identity while reinforcing themes of courage, discipline, service, and national pride.

Brand Rollout

The Battlefield & Beyond identity was extended across digital and on-ground communication, ensuring a consistent visual presence throughout the event. From venue branding and event signage to promotional creatives and attendee-facing assets, every element was aligned with the event’s positioning and purpose.

Event-Specific Brand Experiences

Beyond traditional event branding, several exclusive assets were developed to deepen audience engagement and strengthen the event’s positioning.

Event Publication - “Leadership Chronicle”

As part of the event’s experiential branding strategy, Leadership Chronicle was created as an exclusive newspaper for attendees.

Inspired by editorial storytelling formats, the newspaper featured the event brief, stories from the frontlines, leadership lessons drawn from military experiences, a snapshot of the Kargil War, and engaging activities designed to encourage participation and reflection.

The publication transformed information into an experience, helping attendees connect more deeply with the ethos of the Armed Forces while creating a memorable and distinctive brand touchpoint within the event journey.

Experiential Marketing Stall - “The Weight of Service”

To create a deeper connection between attendees and the realities of military life, an interactive experience titled Experience the Weight of Service was introduced at the venue.

The installation invited participants to physically lift and experience the weight carried by soldiers in service to the nation. Various military essentials, including combat gear, haversacks, sandbags, and other field equipment, were displayed for attendees to engage with firsthand.

The objective was to transform appreciation into understanding by giving civilians a small glimpse into the physical demands and responsibilities borne by members of the Armed Forces.

Event Inclusivity - “Changemaker Wristbands”

Dedicated wristbands were designed for attendees belonging to the Changemaker category.

These served not only as access identifiers but also as symbolic representations of participation in a movement focused on leadership, impact, and purpose.

Venue Navigation & Experience Design

A complete wayfinding system was designed to guide attendees seamlessly throughout the venue.

Directional standees, parking guidance signage, registration displays, and information points were strategically placed to improve attendee experience while maintaining visual consistency across the event environment.

Event Standees & Venue Displays

Custom event standees were designed for the speaker lineup, documentary showcase, and the 200 Lives Initiative. Positioned strategically across the venue, these display assets enhanced event communication, improved attendee engagement, and highlighted key aspects of the program. The standees also played an important role in venue branding, creating a consistent visual presence throughout the event space.

Stage Presentation Design

A dedicated set of on-screen visuals was created to support speaker sessions and stage proceedings. Each speaker was introduced through custom-designed slides that highlighted their journey, achievements, and key themes. Aligned with the event’s visual language, these assets enhanced audience engagement, strengthened storytelling, and contributed to a cohesive and immersive stage experience.

VVIP Networking Dinner

An exclusive VVIP networking dinner was curated for a select group of attendees, including senior business leaders, philanthropists, policymakers, and influential members of Chennai’s professional ecosystem. Designed as an intimate meet-and-greet with the speakers, the gathering enabled meaningful conversations beyond the main event. The closed-door interaction provided a platform for discussions around impact, contribution, and long-term collaboration, fostering deeper relationships among individuals committed to driving positive change.

Post Event Action - “Operation Beyond”

Operation Beyond was designed to convert inspiration into action. Before leaving the event, attendees were invited to commit to a personal or professional goal by scanning a QR code and submitting their objective for the next six months.

As a continuation of the event journey, participants would later receive a reminder of their commitment, reinforcing the idea that leadership is measured not by what is learned, but by what is acted upon.

Certificate Design

A specially curated digital Certificate of Impact was developed to acknowledge every individual’s contribution towards Battlefield & Beyond. Designed with a visual language inspired by service, leadership, and national pride, the certificate became a meaningful acknowledgment of participation in a purpose-driven leadership event.

Delivered digitally after the event, it enabled attendees to carry forward their association with the initiative while strengthening engagement beyond the day of the event.

Outcome

Through strategic positioning, a distinctive visual identity, and carefully curated brand experiences, Battlefield & Beyond established a strong and memorable presence across every attendee touchpoint. From pre-event communication to on-ground engagement and post-event interactions, the branding consistently reinforced the event’s core themes of leadership, service, resilience, and action. The result was an experience that not only captured attention but also created a lasting connection with attendees and strengthened the event’s overall impact.
